Mr Beast - `A` Players Who Stay Are Ultimate ROI

The 8th Wonder of Business: Long-Term A-Players

The hard truth most entrepreneurs miss is that hiring talent isn’t enough—you need talent that compounds over decades. Mr. Beast puts it perfectly when describing the ROI on long-term team members:

“It is quite literally the eighth wonder of the world for a business.”

What Mr. Beast Demands in His Team

“You, I’d be very coachable because whatever I teach you today is gonna change, you know, a year or two from now. Always learning, always improving, coachable.”

“A big thing for me is you gotta see the value in working here. Like you really, I just, I don’t, this isn’t like a, a job, this is a career. Like if you don’t, you know, realistically see a world where you’re working for me in 10 years, then it’s pretty hard for me to invest into you at the level I want.”

He’s brutally honest about the exchange: massive investment requires long-term commitment. This isn’t feel-good corporate culture—it’s mathematical ROI.

The Mediocrity Cancer

When asked about the worst trait, Mr. Beast doesn’t hesitate:

“Mediocrity, I mean it’s just like, ‘cause they’re not bad enough where you fire them but not good.”

He understands the contagion effect:

“You put a bunch of a players around, more A players, they just build off of each other. But you like put two or three C players amongst a bunch of great people and they’ll start pulling ‘em down.”

The Market Reality Paradox

I’ve been repeatedly told over the years that if I really want to get paid more then I need to change employers. In my experience, this has been a double-edged sword. Staying long opens up opportunities that only show up when there is trust and strong working relationships with peers. On the other hand, changing jobs means you get to learn more and get paid more. I’ve seen so many incredible folks leave for a better pay because the market valued them more than their current employer.
