I started a blog
I’ve been wanting to start a blog for quite some time, but between work and life, I couldn’t find the time to set one up. If you are reading this, then I finally managed to do it. Here were my initial requirements for starting a blog:
- I want to spend $0. I’m interested in trying out blogging to see if it’s something I would enjoy long-term. If it is, I’ll consider getting a custom domain and adopting a more robust deployment strategy.
- Markdown-based blog. I want the blog to be hosted in a Git repository and to write posts in Markdown format.
- Learn something new. I’m eager to learn a new framework or programming language while pursuing this new hobby.
As usual, I started with a Google search and stumbled upon a Hacker News post that introduced me to Jekyll. It seemed cool, so I tried it out and really liked it. I found a great theme and managed to deploy it on Netlify. So far, I’m really enjoying it. Cheers to the first post 🍻.
